Sometimes you have to step back and evaluate your capabilities and willingness. There are plenty of opportunities in a fire dept, not just fighting the fires. If you are not willing to do the training then you are not going to fight the fires. The Chief is not chasing away the firefighters, the firefighters have become complacent. Complacency injures and kills. Sorry not on my watch. Become an afministrator for the dept if you do not want to train.
